If you ask me: what’s the one thing you did in your business that made the biggest difference. My answer will be invest in a professional photographer.
Seems random I know, but let me explain.
When I started out my website looked like everyone else’s. No personality, cold and nothing connecting it to who I am and why people should work with me. If that’s you cringing, because you see yourself in this. Don’t worry. It’s part of the process.
For me, there were two parts to this.
1. I didn’t really know who I wanted to work with and what I wanted to do.
2. I was afraid to put myself out there. It seems selfish to plaster your face all over your website.
But when I started to really dive in to what I wanted to do and who I wanted to serve it suddenly became easy. It’s not about ME at all. It’s about the people I work with, aka YOU. That fixed the first part of the problem.
Once I realised it wasn’t about me, I was also able to get over the fear of putting my face out there. You know why? Because it let’s people connect with who I am and my energy. It filters out people who don’t resonate with me and potentially gives the ones that do the nudge they need to work with me.
Now if you know me at all, you’ll know that I’m terrified of having my pictures taken. Thankfully I have a lot of creative friends and decided to book my friend Barbara Crepaldi one of the most talented ladies I know. She completely put me at ease and I ended up actually having fun on the shoot. Imagine that!
I’ve definitely noticed a difference in my business and most people now comment on how they feel like they already know me purely through my website.
There is of course, the simple fact, that having professional pictures on your website makes you instantly look more professional. People know you’re taking your business serious and it’s not just a hobby for you!
So if you are on the fence of getting your pictures taken, take this as a sign to do it. You’re worth it! And in the end it’s a business expense you can claim back as part of your taxes.
